Colorectal Cancer Screenings Save Lives!

Dr. Scott Thornton, Colon and Rectal Surgeon at Bridgeport Hospital advises, “Do yourself, and especially your loved ones, a favor. Get a colonoscopy. Early detection of colon cancer saves lives. It’s as simple as that.”

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States and the second leading cause of death from cancers that affect both men and women. Colorectal cancer affects people in all racial and ethnic groups and is most common in people age 50 and older. The good news? If everyone age 50 and older got regular screenings, 6 out of 10 deaths from colorectal cancer could be prevented.

At Bridgeport Hospital, philanthropy is crucial in supporting patients with cancer, from detection and diagnosis to comprehensive treatment and a full range of integrative medicine services to help them maintain their quality of life.
