The new, state-of-the-art Park Avenue Medical Center in Trumbull allows patients with any cancer diagnosis to receive world-class treatment close to home. The Center is home to an expanded branch of the Norma Pfriem Breast Center, which has been providing leading edge, compassionate care to breast cancer patients for fifteen years.
Breaking Ground on a New Era of Care
Bridgeport Hospital’s Park Avenue Medical Center opened in May. There was a dedication ceremony for the healing garden named in her honor at the Park Avenue Medical Center. Speaker after speaker recalled the generosity and compassion of philanthropist Norma Pfriem during the dedication ceremony for the healing garden.
Where Expertise Meets Compassion
The emotional “heart and Soul” of the Park Avenue campus, the Norma F. Pfriem Healing Garden provides beauty and peace to both patients and employees, with a hillside garden planted with native Connecticut plants. Patients receiving chemotherapy are able to view the garden through private outdoor bays while undergoing treatment.
The Norma Pfriem Foundation has provided annual gifts to the hospital for 10 years, the most recent to name the healing garden at Park Avenue Medical Center.
“Sometimes we’re lucky to meet that one special person,” said Norma Pfriem Breast Center Executive Director, Donna Twist. “For me, it was Norma. Herself a breast cancer survivor, she inspired our mission to provide patients and their families with peace, hope, serenity and world class care under one roof.”
