President’s Message – November 2021
November 15, 2021 |
Happy National Philanthropy Day!
November 15 is National Philanthropy Day. This day celebrates the importance of working together for the common good. Philanthropic deeds come in all different shapes and sizes — charitable giving, volunteering, etc. — and on National Philanthropy Day, no act of kindness goes unnoticed.
Last year you and over 3,000 generous people like you gave over $5.7 million to the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation. Here are some examples of what your philanthropy makes possible:
- Bridgeport Hospital vaccinated 129,086 individuals and cared for 3,513 COVID admissions
- Improved Care Coordination with high-risk vulnerable Primary Care Center patients during the pandemic resulted in better outcomes from COVID-19 than reported in Fairfield County, the State of Connecticut and the nation
- Over the past year, our Women’s Care Center Post-Partum Wellness Check has provided follow up care and screening to 470 new mothers and their babies
- Our Burn/Trauma Outreach Program has provided virtual trauma and burn prevention programs to EMS agencies and instructors, local school programs, and staged an inter-network burn seminar attended by 200 clinicians statewide
- A Chronic Care Management team was launched at the Primary Care Center to address the health and social determinants of health challenges for complex high-risk patients, substantially decreasing frequent Hospital and Emergency Department visits and improving well-being.
- Provided Chromebooks for children and clinical staff at the REACH Program, the Hospital’s Intensive Outpatient Mental Health Program, to meet an increased demand for tele-psych appointments for adults, adolescents and children
