The REACH OCD/Anxiety Disorders Program at Bridgeport Hospital has been named the 2024 Program of the Year by the Association for Ambulatory Behavioral Health.

The OCD/Anxiety Disorders Program was established in 2023 through a collaboration between the Yale School of Medicine OCD Research Clinic and REACH. The OCD/Anxiety Disorders program at Bridgeport Hospital is one of only two dedicated intensive programs in the United States offering exposure and response prevention (ERP) with medication management that accepts state and government insurance. For more information on the REACH Program’s OCD and Anxieties Disorder Track, Click here.

The REACH Program relies on philanthropy to provide these innovative services to our patients. Most recently, the Friends of Pediatrics funded a full time recreational therapist for the REACH Program and the Emergency Department Crisis Unit. Click here to make a gift to the REACH Program.

Newborn Developmental Follow-Up Program

For the past 39 years, Bridgeport Hospital has been providing follow up care for infants born prematurely in our Allison Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Our Newborn Developmental Follow-Up Program was the first program in the state to offer this early intervention. The program has been supported for the past 26 years by a private foundation based in Connecticut.

Nurse Navigators for patients with cancer provide vital, compassionate care to our patients.

Nurse Navigators

Nurse Navigators for patients with cancer provide vital, compassionate care to our patients diagnosed with cancer. They work closely with physician teams to prepare care plans for individuals to address the complex needs of all patients. Care plans provide a roadmap for patients to follow once their initial treatment ends and include imaging and pathology results, physician referrals, and other information to optimize their quality of life. In addition, Social Workers join forces with Nurse Navigators to assess the mental health needs of patients, providing essential resources and referrals for integrative services including counseling, music and art therapy, massage, Reiki, and acupuncture.

The Kaulbach Memorial Golf Classic, Connecticut’s longest running charity golf tournament now in its 43rd year, has provided over $2.5 million in support of cancer care, including our nurse navigators.

Bridgeport Hospital and the Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital co-sponsored LifeBridge’s Symposium, which brought together healthcare providers, educators, non-profit organizations, policy makers, parents, students, and neighbors willing to do things differently to strengthen our community’s well-being. As part of that symposium, LifeBridge students made a gift of a beautiful, healing mural to the Hospital.

“This gift will make an impact on everyone who walks by this wall every day. Most times in life we don’t know the trauma that people have been through. And we won’t always know who will be helped by the things we do,” said Magna Dias, MD, chair of Pediatrics, Bridgeport Hospital. “Having this healing artwork to uplift our spirits is so welcome.” Click here to view the news clip on Fox61 and here to view the media story featured in The Patch.
