President’s Message – March 2021

A little over a year ago, Bridgeport Hospital admitted its first patient diagnosed with COVID-19. Little did we know that we were on the leading edge of the pandemic wave that quickly spread across Fairfield County, the country and the globe.

Bridgeport Hospital’s physicians and their clinical colleagues responded to this monumental public health challenge with fortitude and resiliency. They quickly emerged as leaders in caring for patients with the Coronavirus. More than 2,600 COVID-19 patients have been discharged to their homes and families and we have performed over 90,000 COVID tests to help keep our community safe.

There is hope in the Spring air as the vaccination program accelerates in Connecticut. To date, Bridgeport Hospital and our Yale New Haven Health partners have administered over 205,000 vaccines. We expect along with Governor Lamont that all eligible CT residents will have access to the vaccine in early April.

National Doctors’ Day is TOMORROW, March 30, 2021. Please show your gratitude for their extraordinary skill, dedication and compassion with a gift to the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation.
