Spring Greetings from the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation!

We are thrilled to announce that Bridgeport Hospital’s Primary Care Center (PCC) has won health.com’s 2023 Innovative Hospital Award for its Postpartum Heart Care Program.

The PCC accepts patients regardless of their insurance status and meets community health care needs by addressing social determinants of health, providing a patient-centered medical home and offering a variety of specialty clinics not readily available elsewhere in the community.

This comprehensive and holistic approach to patient care provides a strong infrastructure for the Postpartum Heart Care Program. Dr. Tabassum Firoz launched the program in 2020 to address the needs of women who encounter cardiac complications during pregnancy, such as preeclampsia. Dr. Firoz is uniquely skilled in this work due to her training in obstetric internal medicine. This is one of the few programs in the Northeast doing this vitally important work. Our patients receive highly personalized treatment plans to get them back on the path to good health.
